True Style

Feeling stylistically challenged?

Polyvore has a pretty cool style creator tool that enables you to search through hundreds of dresses, pants, shoes and accessories and put together looks you like – it’s like playing with paper dolls. A lot of stylistas have put the looks they’ve created on the site, too, so even if you don’t feel that creative with clothing, you can get some great ideas from others out there. Then, hit the second-hand stores for knock offs!

The Uniform Project

New York Designer Sheena Matheiken came up with this bold, and might I say admirable, idea to raise funds for the Akanksha Foundation in India. Matheiken’s project is designed to raise both awareness and money; to date, she has raised over $50,000 for school children in India. Sheena, you are awesome!

EcoFabulous.com founder Zem Joaquin talks to “Green T” aka Tamara Henry at the recent Opportunity Green Conference in LA about a few of the hottest eco-clothing, shoe and lifestyle product designers. Tamara also catches a unique interview with Daphne Zuniga (Space Balls, Melrose Place, etc.) who makes the point that sustainability isn’t just about toxin-free clothes, but also about supporting local communities that produce these products. Right on Daphne!

The fashion industry, second to agriculture, is one of the most polluting industries for the planet. The amounts of toxins that go into the production of cotton or denim are enormous.
